European Higher Education Fair opens Vietnamese students’ minds to academic excellence
Close to 3 000 visitors join the hybrid event in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City
The European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) 2023 beckoned close to 3 000 on-site and online visitors in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, held on 1 October and 7 October. With the theme of ‘Study in Europe – Open Your Mind’, 12 to 16 EU Member States in each city showcased education opportunities to students planning to embark on an academic journey in Europe.
At the opening ceremony, Mr Thomas Wiersing, Charge d'Affaires of the EU Delegation to Vietnam (EUD), made a case for students to choose Europe for their higher education. Studying in Europe will open their minds to excellency, diversity and global thinking, a variety of choices, and happiness and love, he said. ‘Vietnamese students with study experience in Europe will be a hot commodity in the labour market.’
While exhibitors provided advice to visitors on the options available, on-site seminars introduced EU initiatives such as Erasmus+, the EU's programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe, and offered glimpses of life in European countries. The whole event in Ho Chi Minh City was streamed live on Facebook and attracted over 2 000 viewers.
Ahead of the EHEF, vlogs by bloggers and influencers Quynh Tit and Duc Vuong on their lives in Europe were shared on social media, serving as an inspiration to the young people to unlock opportunities in the EU.
EHEF 2023 was covered by over 10 media outlets, including VTV, VTC, VOV, Viet Nam News, VietnamPlus, Sinh vien Vietnam and Bao tin tuc. Stay up to date with the latest happenings at EUD on Facebook and X.
